5 Reasons Commercial Cleaners Use Backpack Vacuums
Most commercial cleaning companies offer a variety of services, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and trash removal. To stay in business, though, cleaning companies must be able to perform those services in such a way as to turn a profit. This means that they must learn to control their costs while still being able to provide the commercial cleaning service their customers demand. One of the ways to do that is by using commercial backpack vacuums. There are several advantages to using vacuums of that type. Here are five of them:
1. Greater Reach
Backpack vacuums have a greater reach than other vacuum types, such as uprights and canisters. Because they are worn on the back of staff members, it is easier for staff to reach high points, such as ceilings, upper door facings and heating and air-conditioning vents. Backpack vacuums are also good for reaching into tight spaces, such as closets and pantries. This prevents staff members from having to switch to handheld units to get into those same tight spaces. Additionally, backpack vacuums are great for office cleaning due to the number of waist-high surfaces like desks, countertops and sinks.
2. More Productive
Office cleaning is more productive with backpack vacuums because the vacuum goes wherever the staff member goes. A good example of this is a staircase. Staff members do not have to drag a vacuum cleaner along with them as they navigate the stairs. They simply carry the vacuum on their back. They can even clean the railing and each stair step as they go. This is also true when staff has to stand on a step stool to reach a surface to be cleaned. Another advantage to backpack vacuums is that the cord remains behind the person using the vacuum. This is much more efficient than trying to keep an upright or canister cord out of the way.
3. More Cost Effective
Commercial backpack vacuums are more cost effective than other vacuum types because they allow a janitorial service to complete jobs in a shorter amount of time. This lowers the per-unit cost of work performed. Compared to vacuums of other types, backpack vacuums are relatively inexpensive and easier to maintain because they have fewer working parts. Also, the lifespan of a backpack vacuum will typically be longer.
4. More Ergonomic
Backpack vacuums are more ergonomic than other vacuum types. The weight of the vacuum is balanced on the staff member’s back. This is extremely important as it reduces the number of on-the-job injuries. Staff members are also more able to maintain a natural position as opposed to constantly reaching. Additionally, the ergonomic design speeds up the vacuuming process because the task is more comfortable to perform. Other vacuums that are heavier and harder to navigate make it more difficult to complete the commercial cleaning service as quickly.
5. Healthier
Backpack vacuums are healthier than other vacuum types for several reasons. For one thing, they are less likely to cause on-the-job injuries as described above. They also do a better job of cleaning, which helps to keep surfaces free of germs and contamination. Because they are more ergonomic and have a greater reach, more surfaces are likely to get cleaned, and this promotes the health of the entire area.
Summary
Backpack vacuums are used by commercial cleaning companies for a number of reasons, including the fact that they have a greater reach and are more ergonomic. They are also more efficient and allow a janitorial service to complete its work at a lower cost. Additionally, commercial cleaners use backpack vacuums because they are healthier.
